Week 38-39: FMP_Animation & Rendering_test

These files are separate actions, so when testing rendering, the actions can be seen as loop animations. But I need a coherent set of actions in my animation. After studying various materials and software, I gave up the idea of using skeletal information and directly creating animations. Instead, use the animation clip editing function in C4D to connect different actions together to form a complete character animation. Then bake the action into a separate model and export it as an abc file.

Based on the images in the imagination and storyboard, create a camera, determine the camera animation path, and set keyframes. Afterwards, according to the needs of the screen, the assets are placed and adjusted, and then the previously baked abd animation files are imported into ue5, and the animation is synthesized after the materials are completed.

When rendering in ue5, when the camera moves away from the object, the tree in the background will gradually disappear. After asking classmates for advice and searching for information on the Internet, I solved the problem by adjusting the specific parameters of the rendering distance for drawing trees.

Week 37: FMP_Set construction & actor animation import

Use UE5 to pour the ground model and use a material ball to create a grass material ball for the ground that fits the scene imagination. Then import the downloaded model assets, including castles, tents, markets, jars, wooden cars, etc. Then set the lights and draw grass, trees, stones, and add fog in ue5. Adjust the overall environment.
When setting up the Wifeless Room, due to the difference in the ue5 version, I encountered a situation where the fog plug-in could not be used. In the end, I replaced the fog blueprint with a moving item. Then use the simplest ambient fog to reduce the visibility of the shot.

Looking for suitable character models and actions on the adobe-mixmo website, I picked a knight with a shield in one hand and a sword in the other. At the same time, we searched for more than a dozen actions related to walking, running, fighting and dying. Combine these actions with the character model and download the FBX file.

Week 36: FMP_Project exercises & Asset construction

This week we conducted project exercises, this project room exercise. This is completed by placing materials on the ground and some tree assets. The key point is to practice the mixing of ground materials, because this is the only ground that I have to make myself. At the same time, the production of fog was carried out. I looked for suitable assets on the epic store because I wanted to focus more on the lens language, lens animation and overall structure. So I’m not going to make my own 3D model after I put it on the epic mall. I found a set of architectural assets from the medieval battlefield and scene assets from the Middle East market. I am going to combine these two sets of assets to create my castle interior and battlefield scenes.

Week 34-35: FMP_Schedule_Asset collection

I identified three scenes that I needed to create based on my imagination. The first was a scene where a coin fell into a bowl on the knight. This scene was the peace before the war. The second scene is a coin being kicked away by a soldier on the ground, which represents the outbreak of war. The third scene is a soldier walking on the wall of the castle, and there are many corpses outside the city, which represents the end of the war. Based on these three images, I drew a simple storyboard and determined the approximate location of the shot.

In terms of character animation and scene animation, I originally sharpened my own manual k-frames. But after I finished making the schedule, I found that the time that allowed me to animate was not very sufficient, so I made lens animation the first priority. R character animation can use some of the free actions of Mixmo on the Adobe website. However the coin animation. The specific movement of the character in the map is still something that needs to be produced by me.

Week 32-33: FMP_Project background research

The initial inspiration for this project came from the fact that I am now living in the UK in Europe, and I use this project as the end of my graduate studies in my study abroad career. So I wanted to make a project related to European culture, and I am currently playing the game Age of Empires IV. One of the battles is the Battle of Lincoln, which took place in 1141. This battle took place in Lincoln, England. So I wanted to use visual effects to create a fully virtual 3D animation. This animation will reproduce the battlefield of which battle. At the same time, I want to combine it with the team assignment coin in the second semester. This assignment is to use the back lens of the coin to capture the interesting points, so that the coin can shuttle between different worlds. 2. In my assignment, I still use coins as the main visual entry point to switch different scenes. At the same time, I use coins to represent the abandonment of peace and the inherent cause of war, which is human greed.

The Battle of Lincoln, or the First Battle of Lincoln, occurred on 2 February 1141 in Lincoln, England between King Stephen of England and forces loyal to Empress Matilda. Stephen was captured during the battle, imprisoned, and effectively deposed while Matilda ruled for a short time.

Epic Battlefield: Armies of Medieval Knights Fighting with Swords. Dark Ages Warfare. Action Battle of Armored Warrior Soldiers, Killing Enemies. Cinematic Historical Reenactment.

Age of Empires 4, one of the battles is the Battle of Lincoln (1141)

After deciding on the content of the project, I began to collect relevant background information. First, I searched for historical information and online documents about the Battle of Lincoln on the Internet. More detailed information was found on Wikipedia. At the same time, I combined the levels in the four Age of Empires games with introduction and level background design screens. I pictured a battlefield combined with a castle in my mind.

For this project, I want to use UE5 to produce it, because the UE5 engine can simulate the real environment more realistically and make the picture more cinematic. At the same time, through personal project practice last semester, I deeply realized the advantages of the UE5 engine. This engine has obvious advantages over other software in building terrain and fast real-time rendering.
